Built to Serve: Honoring Those Who Have — and Continue to — Serve
November - Honoring Service and Sacrifice
Service doesn’t stop when the mission ends — it evolves.
Every disciplined effort begins with a commitment to something larger than the self. Military service, at its core, is a deliberate exercise in purpose and unity. This November, as we pause to observe days of Veterans Day, Remembrance, and Armistice across the nations we serve, we honor the unwavering commitment of service.
At Foresite, we recognize the enduring legacy of service. The poppy flower, a symbol of remembrance and sacrifice across nations, also represents the fertile ground from which future purpose grows. It is a quiet reminder that the most essential qualities required for defense—discipline, adaptability, and integrity—are forged in the most demanding environments.
Our appreciation is not symbolic; it is operational. Today, the same essential discipline forged in service is required on a new frontier: cyber defense. Our veteran and active service teammates, who once protected nations, now help redefine what security means for business. Their experience confirms that the values of military service are the non-negotiable qualities that power effective cybersecurity operations.
From Service to Cyber Defense
For many veterans, the transition to cybersecurity is a natural evolution of purpose.
Both callings require vigilance, adaptability, and the willingness to take ownership when it matters most.
Veterans and active service members bring calm under pressure, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to getting the mission right — traits that elevate every team they join.
Scott Anderson – SOAR Engineer, U.S. Army Veteran
Scott Anderson is a 10-year U.S. Army Veteran who spent more than 27 months deployed to Iraq between 2007 and 2010.
During his military career, he developed skills in physical security, tactical coordination, and strategic planning — serving in management positions across multiple duty stations before retiring in 2017 with more than 25 military honors and awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) for exceptional service.
“My entire family — my brother, my stepmom, my grandfather, and my father — all served, so it felt natural for me to follow that path. I also joined because I wanted to do something that had meaning and purpose. Even if we don’t always agree with the reason behind every mission, it still felt good to give to something beyond myself.”
“One of the most important lessons I carry from the Army is the ability to adapt. When you can adjust to any situation or challenge, it creates space for growth and helps you succeed in whatever mission lies ahead.”
“Veterans Day for me is… am I allowed to say the free food?” 😄
Today, Scott channels that same mindset into his role as a SOAR Engineer at Foresite — turning adaptability into automation, and helping customers respond to evolving threats with precision and speed.
William Kline – Security Analyst, U.S. Army National Guard Veteran
William Kline served in the Army National Guard from 2009 to 2015. Inspired by his father’s dedication to the service — and a bit of encouragement from his Mom, who always said “every kid should experience bootcamp” — William found his own path in uniform.
“My values have always been honesty and security in the everyday. Knowing that words have weight, it’s important to choose them carefully.”
For William, Veterans Day is a time to connect with others who’ve shared that sense of duty.
“It’s a chance to go out, connect with service members in the community, and learn from others.”
That spirit of connection continues in his work as a Security Analyst at Foresite — applying his values of integrity and precision to every investigation and customer interaction.
Tim Suwandhaputra — Director of Growth & Alliances, US Army
Tim Suwandhaputra has served in the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserve since 2009. As a first-generation American, his decision to serve was a deep commitment—an opportunity to give back to the nation that offered his family liberation and a future. That fundamental sense of purpose continues to drive his work today.
His service has consistently involved working with joint-force and multi-national teams. Whether on mobilization or deployment, Tim's experiences required him to build trust and align execution across different organizations and missions. This background cemented a core belief: Strategic success is always collective. The ability to move forward depends on disciplined planning and the consistent effort to build strong partnerships.
"Military service taught me two things: you can’t lead major operations without meticulous planning, but you can’t win without grit. We accept the complexity, embrace the suck, and we never stop leading from the front until the mission is complete."
Today, Tim channels that disciplined commitment to strategic alignment into his role leading Growth Strategy and Alliances at Foresite. He drives clarity and strategic execution to build partnerships and Go-To-Market programs that help clients transform their security from a barrier into a catalyst for business success.
Brian Pepperdine – Director of Customer Engineering, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran
Brian Pepperdine served in the U.S. Marine Corps, deploying during a significant overseas operation. While initially trained as a Tactical Network Specialist, the realities of the mission demanded immediate, adaptive skills. He quickly found himself supporting a critical incident response element tasked with managing asymmetrical threats.
This mission required constant situational awareness, rapid cross-organizational communication, and the work ethic to drive the mission forward. Inspired by the military’s emphasis on taking fierce ownership of your piece of the puzzle, Brian transitioned into engineering with the same regimented structure and deep sense of pride. This commitment earned him a meritorious promotion while deployed.
“In the Marine Corps, you learn that every job matters — but only if you take complete ownership of it. When I was in the service, my role evolved into managing life-and-death information flow across entire theaters of operation. We carry that same zero-tolerance discipline into every customer solution — no gaps, no excuses, just execution.”
Today, Brian channels that unwavering discipline into his role as Director of Customer Engineering at Foresite, empowering his team to develop custom, resilient solutions with confidence and precision.
Mark Glover — SecOps Engineer, US Air Force
Mark Glover has served in the U.S. Air Force for more than nine years and continues to serve today. What began as an opportunity for education and travel has evolved into a lifelong commitment to purpose.
“At the time I joined, it was mainly for access to college and the chance to see the world. Now I genuinely enjoy what I do — and I take pride in serving.”
One value that continues to guide Mark’s work — in uniform and in cybersecurity — is teamwork.
“The success of any mission depends on it. No one operates alone, whether you’re managing a flight crew or defending a network.”
As both a service member and a Security Analyst at Foresite, Mark brings that same operational discipline to every engagement — reinforcing the idea that the strength of the mission lies in the team behind it.
Built to Serve: A Shared Commitment to Execution
The values of service—trust, transparency, and constant improvement —are woven into how we operate at Foresite. We are honored to work alongside teammates who embody those values every day.
The addition of the poppy to our brandmark, for the month of November, is a profound commitment to the principle of remembrance and purpose. It is a visual articulation that the qualities required to defend the digital mission—clarity, grit, and precision—are enduring. We are committed to creating more pathways for veterans and service members to bring their expertise into cybersecurity through mentorship, enablement, and our partnerships.
This shared commitment drives our new content series, Lessons in Execution.
Their clarity of purpose shapes our mission: transforming cybersecurity from a barrier into a catalyst for business success.
